CDE's value is being held down by the uncertainty over its Bolivian mine. Valuation appears to be justified, however, even if Bolivia were to national the mine. They have also insured most of the money they have put into the mine. This situation will only improve when they complete their aquisition of the Mexican silver mine. Bigger picture, the short position in silver appears to be very high, and the stockpiles seem to be shrinking. Silver appears to be a good place to be.

The dollar is weakening and that means any hard asset is strengthening. This company was hit hard on the dilution of the recent merger. The morning after makes this company one of the worlds leading silver producers and huge reserves in the hopper.

If anyone's interested in taking a closer look at the company, I thought this presentation they did at
the 43rd Minesite Mining Forums was quite informative.

From the presentation, besides already looking at their strong balance sheet and cash flow, I like the fact that this silver mining company has the lowest cost in producing silver per ounce compared to its peers.
In addition, valuation-wise, compared to its peers, it is trading at a discount.
Finally, it's got enough $ to finance new mines withou further diluting its shares.
Also, got a vast reserve of silver and increasing reserves in gold.

Growth in Global Demand is providing the imbalance with Global Supply. Gun twirling Politicians/Extremists are providing the volatility. Central Bankers are providing the erosion of paper currency value. These variables add up to a positive price trend for Precious Metals. CDE Management and Labor are efficiently executing a plan that will lead to the growth of Earnings. The equation, as I see it, adds up to Investors providing a higher Price.

If it weren't for bad headlines, there would be no headlines at all for CDE. Headlines aside, the news is not all that bad. Yes, the Boliva mine situation is unsure - but CDE has taken out an insurance policy on it. I am confidant the Alaskan permit issues will be solved. But those mines are not even producing yet! . . . The core business continues to churn out ore at a steady rate. Solid PE, good valuation, lots of cash, very low debt. They have about 16 years worth of reserves and they are looking to buy some more . . .I'm long on CDE. When they get a few good headlines, I think this stock will zoom.
