Cano Petroleum, Inc. (CFW)

CAPS Rating:
**

An independent oil and natural gas company, that is actively pursuing waterflooding and enhanced oil recovery techniques to increase production and reserves at its existing properties and future acquisitions.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

Management is not solid. Stock is too watered down due to so much capitol being raised. Maybe next year.

This company is perfecting the technology of capturing crude from lower performing wells that didn't pay when the price of oil was very low. Now, they have a veritable gold mine in their pockets w/those previously abandoned proven wells. Also, their natural gas fields are prime. In addition, the stock price was artificially depressed by three things in the recent past: 1. The north Texas massive grass fire that put their production off-line temporarily; 2. The groundless lawsuit that resulted from the fires, which has been tossed out; 3. The money-raising move the company itself made when a partial sale was made valuing the stock at less than the current market value.

The temporary effect of these three factors has worn off at this point. This stock is gaining momentum and will be unstoppable as the price of oil and gas is bound to stay high. Demand from emerging markets will only grow. China, India and others are growing hungrier in their energy needs. Cano will help feed that need.
