Crushing debt, befuddling accounting, and dwindling share of a dwindling market...just what did in Sandridge Energy compounded by "The curse of Aubrey McClendon's maps" ... How sad...

Icahn is the largest shareholder, owning 11% of the shares. Short selling positions are over 33% of outstanding sales. Sooner or later the short positions will be covered, and the stock upward movement will be fast and unexpected. Plenty of room on the upside, as the shorts have accelerated and extended the stock movement downward.

Not so sure about this one after the bludgeoning I've taken here.

Natural gas prices seemed sure to go up with demand surging. That darn supply piece of the equation is killing me.

At some point things will turn, but it's not clear if that's before or after a CHK bankruptcy.

With the potential for increasing interest rates the debt burden will be unmanageable. Maybe it is already.

CHK is beat up bad from sinking nat gas prices, but the truth of the matter is that they're the biggest, baddest company in a sector that is sure to recover if you're willing to invest in the long term. That's what I do - I don't trade, I invest. This one is a no-brainer.

On top of that, you've got a host of positive changes in management and the influence of Ichan - these guys are becoming a better company while getting crushed by the shorts. Fine with me - I hope it goes lower so that I can buy more!

Chesapeake has great fundamentals and they are taking prudent steps to weather the recent drop in oil and natural gas.

The recent crash in oil prices reminds me a lot like the crash of 08. Investors have been pummeled and want out, watching their investments get slashed by more then 50%. There loss is my gain. I am willing to put my money down on the table and say that within the next 5 years oil prices will be substantially higher then they are today. Just like stocks are higher today then they were in 08. On another positive note, CHK appears to be undervalued at the level it is currently being traded trading at. Future oil price appreciation + current undervaluation = beating the market the next 5 years at this entry point.
