On February 19th, 2010, we invited Geraldine the tarot card reader to Fool HQ. She sat down with Adviser/Globetrotter Tim Hanson to read the collective unconscious and tell us how the future looks for a few of our favorite companies. This is what she saw:
Transformation Card and Eight of Cups – a lot of upheaval around this. There may be some bad press, some bad publicity that will come up in the next eight to thirteen months. Not to say that it can’t recoup, but in the next year, the next thirteen months, it’s just not looking good.

I beleive this stock will outperform the S&P 500 and a majority of its competitors. Chipotle spinning off of McDonalds was the best thing that could have happened both for the company and the consumers. McDonalds would have deteriorated the quality of the food and management realized that. Chipotle has seen significant growth in its store openings and they continue to do so. Chipotle also positions itself in very good locations giving them an edge over competitors. Chipotles is also a much healthier "fast food" than the alternative for a very respectable price. I see this company with great upside and with a fairly cheap valuation.
Recs
I believe Chipotle will beat the market because I think healthier eating is a major trend. I think Chipotle will continue to adapt in that direction (maybe less sodium?). At present, they are the healthiest fast-food alternative that I know of. They are convenient, inexpensive, and healthy.

SUPER GROWTH! Love the food!
Recs
With very little debt, a genius business concept, and room to grow, Chipotle has plenty more money to make.

I still think there is a lot of untapped market share for chipotle. It may be overpriced by traditional valuation measures, but people pay up for profitable growing companies with great products.

Chipotle is one of the few larger food companies approaching food from a sustainable perspective. Consumers are starting to think more about the food choices they make and looking for products that contain less chemicals, additives, etc. They have figured out how to make food still cheap, fast and tasty but at the same time environmentally friendly.
Recs
I love the product, but I don't see this company being successful internationally. Also, the fad is dying down a bit, with some strong competition (everyone is going organic/green).
The new menu with kids products shows me they jumped the shark.

International expansion will boost Chipotle's long term growth perspective.

Thanks for selling off when the numbers were good.

its an in-fad theme with excellent management

Not as totally lame as whole foods.

Have you had a burrito there?

This company dominates the Mexican-style fast food market in the following ways: fresh ingredients and food style, simple menu offerings, clean restaurant designs, green/sustainable mentality, and down-right delicious food. I feel these things make Chipotle superior to Moe's, Freebirds, Taco Bell, Qdoba, etc.
The food is somewhat pricey, which is not good in the current economic climate. But I think the product is good enough to keep people coming back for more, regardless of the price.
Recs
I love their product. They've navigated through this recession beautifully so far. I think they'll make it and triumph!
Recs
Overblown fad. Something is fishy - and it ain't on the menu!

Market Cap and P/E are too high for the restaurant industry
