Storage virtualization is a leading technology. With hands-on experience, I'd have to say that Compellent does it best and they will continue to prove their case over time.

CML has a strong product but has basically built on a space vacated by Xiotech customers. Xiotech could woo those customers back with a new or improved platform to replace the aging CML fleet. If CML can do something new, they stand a chance. The SMB… More

Compellent is just starting to turn a profit and I feel that the trend will continue. With "green" initiatives and a financially tight economy this will continue to be looked at and purchased. This is a company founded by Phil Soran who started Xiotech years ago. Phil has said that this (CML) will be his legacy and he is pretty bent on not selling. I just find it hard to believe that this won't beat the S&P 500 for the next 1-2years.

CML has a strong product but has basically built on a space vacated by Xiotech customers. Xiotech could woo those customers back with a new or improved platform to replace the aging CML fleet. If CML can do something new, they stand a chance. The SMB storage space is crowded with CML, 3Par, Xio and others - some day IBM, NetApp and EMC are going to decide they want to own that market. And that, as they say, will be that.
