I just finished reading Barron's recent article. They like CNP because 1) They just won a lawsuit with Texas Public Utility Commission which is worth up to $4 a share. 2) The company has little debt and should repurchase shares 3) Valuation on PE on par with utilities industry at 14.5 next years earnings. 4) This company could be a takeover candidate

It's cheap enough, cash flow is good, dividend is good. It's a spark of hope at the end of a long tunnel.

PUre utility/dividend play. In it's regular trading band, it's near the low. I would put this in an IRA and forget about it. This is the "lock in the return" side of the portfolio.

Lower interest rates will benifit the debt structure and stengthen the bottom line. Seasonal demand will drive price strength.

Yearly time for utilities. Gas transmission and trading is leading to better profits. Dividends are good and Houston metropolitan areas is growing nicely. If BPL is ever approved - even, with rate structure cuts - profits will soar. Picked several months - near term and believe that this trend will last a few years.
