Columbia makes great products...I have a pair of winter boots made by Columbia, my feet never get cold wearing them. I go out of my way to buy Columbia stuff. Good products for a decent price is never a bad business idea.

Got into COLM in the mid $40s and I'm glad I did. Still having a few hiccups, but this family-run business won't let things get out of hand.

Columbia is the benchmark in winterwear. Look around and you will find that a ton of people are wearing their jackets, vests and liners. They are adding stores at a controlled pace - and have very high brand appeal. High quality garments at reasonable pricepoint - and we are heading into the winter months were their sales should soar.

COLM has potential in their outerwear department internationally, and their footwear/accessories department here at home. Management has handled fairly well the downturn and subsequent increase in inventory.

High insider ownership, growing into European markets, and good quality and reputation, at a reasonable price.

good management, good project

I'm a sucker for family owned and operated businesses, and with a management this solid who can resist?
Fairly priced now but I'm not the type of person who tries to time the market with these things.
This goes in my newborn daughter's portfolio and stays for at least 5-10 years.

I just like their clothes...

Great company; cheap shares. Those attributes generally equal a winner even in brutally competitive industries.

Venerable brand, solid, well-run company.

In the past five years, the Portland, Oregon-based outerwear and sportswear company has averaged 17 percent annual earnings growth and 13 percent sales growth. The stock sells for 12 times earnings and 1.4 times revenue. Debt is less than 4 percent of equity. It's time to add this one while retail is down in general. Valuation adds up.
