Although oil is a rough business at this moment, the world's thirst for it isn't going away...only changing. At < than $50 a share, now might just be the time to stock up on this excellent company.

Oil has drops like this every 7-15 years. This will recover and the big, strong companies, will eat up the small ones at rock bottom prices, which will put them in great position when the rebound in oil price happens.

I believe that oil will continue to be an important piece of the economy for many years, and the current unfavorable pricing will change as the realization becomes more widespread.

consolidation is coming...they are going to be a buyer, not a seller... somewhat isolated to pricing because of diversification....

Oil will never stay this low, and with a 4.5% yeild it will pay you to wait.

This was a bit premature but I wanted to keep an eye on it. Now at around $61 I think it is a buy. It may go lower but I think COP is positioned well to come out of the recent havoc in the oil patch fairly well, as more marginal highly levered players get pinched and have to sell some assets, the bigger players will gobble them up. I still feel the 'Saudi Gambit' will in the end not be what the royalty of the House of Saud had hoped of, at least not a full realization of what theywanted.
So in this aspect certainly many will be hurt but consolidating results will strengthen U.S. oil companies by concentrating more power in the hands of fewer players.
