Costco is a well-run company with a broad customer base. Once the US economy starts to exit the worst of the current crisis, Costco should swing up nicely.

People have made it a part of life, most people I know have a monthly or bi-monthly "Costco Run" planned not to mention going there fo software, books, art, Christmas presents, clothing....practically everything you can imagine for a reasonable price. Somethimes they fall off the "reasonable" wagon, but mostly they keep prices low so middle class people don't have to go to the dreaded "Wal-Mart" to support their lifestyles and families needs. It's a staple.

Good company. Still has lots of growth prospects IMO. Much better shopping experience than Sam's Club from personal experience. Love this place!

This is just a well run company that will do very well in the long term. They get more shoppers who will eventually start spending more money at Costco... So the per customer sales today are not the leading indicator, the increasing number of customers is.

COSTCO offers consumers great value on their merchandise, regardless of the commodity/items. As a result, their volume will continue to grow and volume is the answer to profits.

Shop there a lot. Frequent topic among friends who like to share what they think is great there--meats, good wine prices, books, etc. Well run.

everyone wants a good value and costco has some of the best around. costco is flush with cash and it has tons of room for growth. they just opened there first wharehouse in australia. they now have 598 locations, at that location first day sales were over 865,000 usd and over 21,000 signups.

As more people get laid off, which has slowed but still adding to the total, these people will be bargain shopping and buying in bulk to feed their families. Everytime I drive by the local costco it is packed with people.

CEO Jim Senegal came to the Fool today and gave us some insight into his life long passion for retailing and how it manifests itself in running Costco. He is a humble leader who takes care of his employees better than anyone else in the industry.

Their "treasure hunt" feel, smaller # of SKUs per store and relationships with suppliers put them in a fierce competitive position. Inventory does not come on Costco's books until the item is actually sold. How's that for inventory turn?

BTW..They even sell coffins and they sell a lot of them. A Fool even bought a piano at Costco.

The fact remians that as belts tighten, people will need to find lower prices. There is Wal-Mart for the lower class, and Costco for the middle class. Costco doesn't have any of the bad press WalMart does.

CEO makes 300k, built company from scratch, negative cash conversion cycle. Significant share of profit comes from up front membership fees. Growth potential. If you like quants check out PE/PB now relative to last decade.

Munger is on the board and Buffett would buy it if he could. Maybe he will.
