The FDA's shutdown of CPD's manufacturing operations has scared investors away, but lots of recent capital spending and last week's press release imply that the FDA will allow CPD to resume production sometime soon. Even without manufacturing, CPD has continued to generate a positive operating cash flow as Sun Pharmaceutical's US distributor, and its current cash on hand is about 3.5x debt. So we're pretty safe on the downside, and we can expect a big PPS bump with the resumption of Manufacturing operations.

Generics will always be in need and as the Detroit plant gets rolling and once the FDA is on their good side again this stock should be back up closer to the 10 range.

As an stockholder in Caraco Pharmaceutical Laboratories Ltd. Research, it pains me to see THREE class action lawsuits filed in the last two weeks. I have received paperwork from two of the firms representing stockholders that believe that CPD has artificially inflated stock prices and tricked investors in the process.

"Kendall Law Group has filed a lawsuit against Caraco Pharmaceutical Laboratories (AMEX: CPD) on behalf of investors who purchased CPD stock that was artificially inflated between May 29, 2008 and June 25, 2009. "

"Shalov Stone Bonner & Rocco LLP announces that a class action lawsuit has been filed on behalf of purchasers of the securities of Caraco Pharmaceutical Laboratories, Ltd. ("Caraco" or the "Company") (AMEX: CPD) between May 29, 2008 and June 25, 2009, inclusive (the "Class Period"). The lawsuit is pending in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan against Caraco; Daniel H. Movens, Caraco's Chief Executive Officer, and a director; and Mukul Rathi, the Company's Interim Chief Financial Officer. "

"Shalov Stone Bonner & Rocco LLP announced a class action lawsuit has been filed on behalf of purchasers of the securities of Caraco Pharmaceutical Laboratories, Ltd. between May 29, 2008 and June 25, 2009, inclusive (Class Period). The lawsuit is pending in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan against Caraco; Daniel H. Movens, Caraco's Chief Executive Officer, and a director; and Mukul Rathi, the Company's Interim Chief Financial Officer. The complaint alleges that, throughout the Class Period, the defendants violated the federal securities laws by misrepresenting and failing to disclose material adverse facts."

Lawsuits seem to be common now with Pharmaceutical companies now a days, but that is not a good thing for short term. Potential investors will see these news updates and have little or no interest in buying a few shares, and current stockholders will dump their shares.

Long-term, CPD is a good buy in a marketplace full of different pharmaceutical companies. Short-term, terrible buy due to bad decision making by the board and management.

Disclosure: haven't done anywhere near sufficient due diligence for CPD, but a lot of the big boys on CAPS are green-thumbed quite a bit higher than here. Risk:reward looks attractive around $3, may pick a little up with real $$, if I learn more about them.

Some current issues, but current price seems like great entry point. Long term, I like the idea of generic drugs.

The FDA is flexing its muscles to show that there is a new sheriff in town. I am not sure how Caraco enraged them to this extent but Caraco has hundreds of millions to gain by fixing the problem.

What now? I'll average down if I can get lower than 1.95. Am I crazy? Community let me know. Is this over reaction by FDA? And then over reaction by sellers? I tried to buy more but missed price I wanted.
Don 't know how to calmly buy after hours-- or even frantically. Will anyone give me advise for this generic; and this specific situation? jpr, Aquiline Sorry, not a pitch but don't know where to post this.
