You think gas has increased, just wait for power will be the next big increase. Their independent and the market will see quite a price increase as utilities and energy users scramble to get supplies.

Calpine has a power generating capacity of nearly 24,000 megawatts. While the majority of this is natural gas, 725 megawatts are geothermal - making Calpine the leading supplier of geothermal power in North America, and also one of the overall leaders in renewable energy. And now, with a trailing PE just over $3, you can pick it up for dirt cheap...

Lots of new money from Vulture investors going here. THey have recently come out of bankrupcy so the numbers are a bit decieving and the debt is scary but they market electriity to major markets and have a plan. Its risky but at todays prices it has a long way to go.

Buy low, Sell High. This company has just made their way out of the valley of the shadow of bankruptcy. Natgas prices are on the rise, decent balance sheet and a good P/E ratio. I'd expect them to work their way up to their old time prices within a few years.

fresh out of bankruptcy, streamlined, with potential built into company due to lower revaluation of assets in bankruptcy giving what will look like a superior return on lowered equity value

They are positioned perfectly for the new economics of power generation. They're out of trouble and ready to go. Geothermal is better than solar and wind combined. The tech is proven and with recent advances in oil drilling, geothermal will only get bigger as demand for clean power continues to grow.
