You can make whatever excuses you want to, but management has shown a remarkable consistency in not being able to make money, and therefore not being able to maintain the stock price. In addition, the wholesale fresh fruit business is more subject to the whims of the weather and the EU than any on earth. The fresh-cut salad business, as a consumer business with a lot of competition, is also unreliable. And now we have the spinach scare, the cherry on the sundae.

my girlfriend finally got me to eat salad on a regular basis by showing me how easy bag salad is, and I definitely like their stuff better then the store brand.

I also can't imagine feeding my nieces, nephews, and potential future children any other brand of banana. Its a name I trust.

Chiquita has a good brand and reputation in the business with a badly beaten-up stock price. Also, I like the direction management is taking seeking out high-margin fruit and vegetable sales that position Cqb to take advantage of a renewed quasi-interest in healthy eating.

Good brand recognition and negatives have been factored into price already. The company is introducing products with higher margins and trying to de-commodify fruit. Fresh Express pricing and sales are way up.

CQB is coming off some hard times (EU tariffs, fuel prices, Honduras flooding), has solid fundamentals and is coming out with new banana varieties and Fresh Express acquisition will increase margins.
