Positive feedback from the associate at home depot on their mass market light bulbs. They are selling well and customers are pleased. Good display location at the front of the store.

I must say this Cree LED bulb is compelling.
Please Check my math.
A normal 60 watt incandescent bulb will use 1,500 kw’s over 25,000 hours. At .11 cents a KWH that is $165. Furthermore, an incandescent is supposed to last 1,000 hours, so you would have to replace the bulb 24 times at about $1.25 each. That equals $30.00 in bulbs.
So your cost for 25,000 hours of light with a regular bulb is $195.00
Enter Cree’s new 60 watt LED. Their LED is 83% more efficient, so it would cost just $28.05 in power for 25,000 hours of light. The bulb cost $14.00. So the Cree bulbs has a total cost of $42.05 for a savings of $153.00. Assuming Cree is over exaggerating the life of its bulb by double, you are still looking at about $140 in savings over 25,000 hours of life.
Since that sounded like a no brainer to me. I ordered four different kinds from Home Depot online three nights ago night. They we all on back order. The good news is, I got word that two of them shipped today.
Guess I am not the only one who thinks this is a no brainer.
Seems like the stock could be too.

LEDs are quickly heading to commodity item.
Cree's technology is no longer unique and they have been passed by competitors.
They enjoy great placement with big box retailers but their drivers may start to fail or fall short of claims, causing returns.

Many people oversee the European decision to exit light bulls which is now active since about 1 month. Also adoption stronger in the US. Think they and many other LED plays are now more attractive. Also like AYI, GTAT, VECO...

This stock will outperform the S&P 500 because their products are superior when compared to the competition. The LED Lighting market is heating up quickly and is about to explode. The price of their products are very competitive when compared to traditional lighting sources such as incandencent and fluorescent. For companies that keep their lights on 24 hours the payback is less than a year. Any company that wants to save costs (same making money) will purchase CREE lighting products. CREE lighting products are not a gimmick. Customers will be suprised by the performance of CREE products. Cree lighting modules are being designed into LED light fixtures by numerous will respected lighting fixture companies. Their market is a lot larger than people can comprehend.

Smartphones and peripheral devices growth projected to exceed 6 devices/person in the world by end of decade, and 2012 will be a banner year as Apple roles out IPhone 5. Good ROI, PE ratio, etc even at this price point, and breakout pattern on charts well justified.
