Recent recession/depression has created a huge (but suppressed) demand for specialty alloys (durable goods) while companies all over the world deferred serious maintenance spending and new capacity investments .... they can't wait any longer, and Carpenter will be pleased to supply them as they gain courage and slowly unleash their pent up demand !

It's on it's way back - as auto and airline industries pick up speed, this company is well-positioned to profit. Has a nice dividend, and the stock has been pummelled over the last two years.
