CRWN is a perfect candidate for a buy-out or takeover, this would be a nice niche for Disney.

Lots of out of work women... watching crappy TV = higher ratings for the Hallmark Channel. 2009 Advertising was baaaaad, when you hit bottom, you bounce.

CRWN has all of the characteristics I like to see in a bankruptcy candidate: negative earnings, no cash reserves, high debt....I can't even think of anyone that watches the hallmark channel. Hallmark should just cut their losses and liquidate the company.

This is a diamond in the rough. Entertainment stocks will recover faster than other sectors. Earnings increase is positve. This is a solid survivor poised to take off in the next few months.

Entertainment is recession-proof. When times are bad, people engate in cheap entertainment such as television, cable, and movies. Don't miss the opportunities in stocks that have anything to do with entertainment! This stock will outperform in the next three months.

Fair value somewhere around $3 or $4/share. Stock is not nearly as attractive as Discover yet seems to be valued higher on a per subscriber basis. No voting rights either.

Latest bump is probably due to a unannounced deal being signed and people in the know are buying before it comes public. I would continue to expect these types of moves upward through the end of the year until they sell probably early in 08.

Crown media operates television channels like Hallmark and Hallmark Movie Channel in the USA, catering to a subscriber base counting over 75 million. The company generates revenues from subscriber fees and advertising.

Hallmark channel is targeted at the family friendly baby boomer generation and women between the ages 25 to 54. This generation accounts for 29% of the US population and their buying power is very strong which makes them the darling of the advertisers. In line with this trend advertising revenues have increased in the first nine months of 2006 and Hallmark has been ranked in the top 10 channels in 22 of the last 24 months. This trend is expected to continue in 2007.

They have several original movie premiers coming up like The Christmas Card, What I Did for Love, a rerun of Meet the Santa’s and finally the television premiere of the much awaited Oscar winning March of the Penguins. In December 2006, Crown Media sold its film library to RHI Enterprises for around $160 million. This sale is intended to help Crown media pay down a part of its substantial debt of more than 1 billion which is a cause of great worry. In October 2006, Henry Schleiff, who was instrumental in increasing the number of subscribers at Court TV, was named the CEO of Crown Media. This appointment could work in the company’s favor.

The company has been in the red in the first nine months in 2006 but this was mainly due to the impairment of loss suffered from the sale of the film library. Also the company has done little to spruce up its online operations. Most of the television channels have realized the importance of the internet and it is only recently that Crown media announced the Callister Story programming initiative which involves making films out of user generated content. But the worst for the company seems to be over and 2007 should be a good year for Crown Media.
