This is the "mcdonalds" of pawn brokers as stated in Kiplinger's Magazines' last issue. It is a pawn broker, a cash checking server, paycheck advances and even loans via internet. It is well positioned along the border of US/Mexico to take advantage of those sending money home to family. It may be a distasteful business, but it is making money and will continue to do so as the economy weakens.

Stock picking software. I expect these to come out on top of 2008 with decent return. No steller performance, but better than cash in savings.

I don't own this, because I really don't understand it, but it sure does seem like a good bet if they collateralize the loans in the right ratios. I can't be sure that they do, so this is more of a kicker. Don't take more than a taste. I'll buy it on the dips.

this company is on the move. recently purchased other companies in good operating environment. their theme is making money but their thinking is on a higher level than a lot of their competitors.

I know the owner of a pawn shop who just sold his chain to Cash America. These guys understand that amazing returns are available in this business. Much like junk was undervalued until Michael Milken came along, extremely high risk lending is extremely undervalued. Biggest player in a great, growing business.
