Although the company is still not profitable, it expects sales to reach $260M this year. The company's cap is currently $254M. That makes it the cheapest solar stock in the market in terms of sales multiplier ( less than 1)

Next year Canadian Solar expects more than $500M in sales. There is no doubt that the company will turn profitable next year, and even with 5% profit margin alone, the company's P/E (08) will be around 10 !

By the way, analysts estimate that for 2009 Canadian Solar will have $1.1 per share in earnings - that means P/E (09) = 8.3 for the current market price.

not to mention the tremendous market potential of ? BILLION Consumers...who NOW have disposable income!! It all adds up to an incredible potential!

If your GREEN because ya love mother earth, or your GREEN because ya love money...the fundemaentals and the potential for this company add up to an incredible upside!

As a postscript: (....the Canadian $ is at parity, or above, the US $...HOW LONG that lasts is speculative but the facts are that this company will do quite well in an expanding industry, and a more competitive international market place.)!

Canadian Solar Inc. (CSI) designs, manufactures and sells solar module products that convert sunlight into electricity for a variety of uses. The company’s products include a range of standard solar modules built to general specifications for use in a wide range of residential, commercial and industrial solar power generation systems which are generally sold under its own brand name. CSI also designs and produces specialty solar modules and products based on customers' requirements and implements solar power development projects, primarily in conjunction with government organizations to provide solar power generation in rural areas of China.

The company has recently announced a $30-$40M annual sales and distribution agreement with pro solar Solarstrom in Germany for modules. Additionally the company has also secured a $40- $50M sales contract with Amur Energy Division (AED) in early January. The company has also added SolarWorld and Photowatt as customer in the recent period. All these additions in the customer base of the company are expected to add more growth to the revenues in the coming months.

CSI has an overall cost advantage due to low-cost operations as compared to its peers and lower-cost silicon sources. The company has been profitable since inception in spite of its small size which shows the potential for growth in this company. Its cost-centric business model affords operational flexibility and keeps asset intensity low.

The company has a strong balance sheet which has been funded by the recent IPO in November 2006; this financial boost is expected to help the company to execute an aggressive growth strategy, and gain market share in the coming future. Looking at the current position of the company and its enormous growth prospects in future its shares are expected to outperform the market in the coming months.

Industry shakeout ahead and CSIQ will immerge unscathed? Or, is it just because I wanted to pick a few stocks as a contrarian to TMFEldrehad today? The limited financial research I've done for this high growth industry leads me to believe CSIQ should outperform the SP500. Were it real money, I'd have to do more research.

Just got $40-50 millon contract from Spain for the year. Last year revenue were $50 Million, so with this conract there is a good chance to double the revenue. With approx $100 million 2007 revenue (including Sapin contract), trading at a p/s multiple of 2.5, which is much lower than any other Solar company. This should see atleast $15-16 in next 3-4 months.

There's a great article in the economist explaining why solar is a bad business for investors...first off, solar isn't viable without govt. mandate/subsidies, second, there's more venture capital going into solar then there are legitmate oppurtinites, third, there's not enough high grade silicon to keep pace with demand for solar panel production.
