CSX has been a great stock, rising steadily since about 1999 when it was apx $19 / share. Re takover? Don't try to fix it if it ain't broken.

CSX continually performs even with the oil prices soaring. The overall performance, backed by a board of directors who know how to run a business, makes CSX one of the top stocks to own and buy.

I listen to the raido everyday and have heard thier commericals on air. Plus I have used them before in the past to move coal and coke for BGE in the Baltimore area. I think that they are a good way of moving a lot of gear or product over a large distance. With the way that gas prices are going these days it is becoming cheaper to use them to get your products as close as possible to the final destination and then use another form of transportation to get it there. That is if the tracks don't go right up to the final destination.

CSX is one of the larger rail carriers in the United States. Beyond that, they have the most diverse set of intermodal options of any rail carrier in the US (this means they have more ways of transfering cargo off of rail lines than anyone else). The own 21,000 miles of track, going as far west as Memphis, and covering most of the Eastern seaboard, including 70 different ports. Perhaps the most important thing to consider, a train can move 1 ton of cargo 423 miles on a single gallon of fuel. While they're not immune to high fuel prices, they are perhaps better insulated than other modes of transportation...

My understanding is that rail is the most efficient form of transportation. With fuel prices moving like they are and imports increasing, rail usage can just increase.

Railroads are benefitting from the Ag/Minerals/Metals/Coal, etc. bullishness. Smart investors will also go along for the ride.

Good managed company, always looking for better ways to move a ton of freight for less money and better profit.

Railroads..... More companies are shifting over to them. Think about it, They get 415 mpg, the take over 500 trucks off the road and they only have 2 men on the trains.
