I like CVX and oil.

Good earnings, good dividend, growing industry.

Even if the Lago Agrio judgment ends up wiping out the full $19 billion of book value, it's still undervalued with a margin of safety if it can maintain a similar cash flow for the next few years. There are enough variables, though, such as difficulty in replacing reserves, the potential for a substantial drop in oil demand due to new supply and less than expected consumption growth in India or China, to warrant a very watchful eye over the next few years.

I would consider CVX to be a dividend growth stock with higher upside than other integrated oil & gas players. growth of production in the coming years and the integrated business provides upside

Everytime I think (and the bears) think this is overvalued, the price goes up....Yes, I'm a long-term holder of CVX and I have yet to sell any. Will it peak here and stagnate at these levels, time will tell, but longer-term this is a portfolio staple.

The economy is just starting to heat up but oil and gas giants are still seen as slow and stodgy.

The company is fairly undervalued at this level. Their new ventures will yield lasting results.

I definitly think Chevron will outperform the market becasue you are always going to need gas! Sure you could argue that in 100 years we are going to have cars that dont need gas but thats a 100 years from now.

Good revenue, profitability, dividend is good; big player in Canada's Kitimat LNG project with upstream close supplies of NG. Canada's regulatory scheme isn't as much of an obstacle course as that of our USA, so getting this LNG facility online shouldn't be difficult. Exports to hungry for LNG Asian countries will make this stock profitable.

BIG OIL : )
Recs
Gargantuan company with great income year-over-year for the last few years, a strong balance sheet, continued share repurchases, a great dividend yield, and a slightly more diversified platform than other similarly large conglomerates.
