Cheap and plentiful oil is what makes our lives easy. The problem is that world oil production has peaked. Few of our leaders are aware of the problem or go along with the false claim that there is plenty of oil. Many claim that Saudi Arabia will just produce more if we need it.
The Saudi's are injecting millions of gallons of salt water into their oldest and largest field (Ghawar) just to stay at par. The Russians have admitted to a production plateau, and Canada has resorted to oil sands.
Mexico, our number three supplier after Canada and Saudi Arabia, is seeing production declines of near 15% per year. That will be a big problem for us because the Export Land Model shows us that within 15 years they will no longer be a net exporter.
So here is what you do. Find oil producers with lots of cash that have little exposure to resource nationalization and start buying now.

This is a bet that the deep water resources Chevron has found in the U.S. economic zone will continue to be converted to reserves with further drilling over the next several years, and that the oil price will have some spikes during that time, plus some fear about supply disruptions from some producers, such as Venezuela, Iran, Iraq, Russia.

Disclosue...sold XOM to buy CVX... yield pls 100 basis points, a little more leverage and a hidden asset (capped wells) as a result of UCL takeover...and ventures with CHK in ngas. Robust future.

Oil is resting, only can see upside. Healthy yield. Safe, safe, safe. Interesting position in Clean Coal.

Dividend yield and high-demand commodities FTW. Oil just can't go much lower, and this one is a world leader.

I am an oil buff and I see that Chevron has a good solid base. It will take a while, but I see $100 by the end of 2011.
