I thought this would outperform SPY slightly, holding companies that are similar but with the highest dividends. So far, not so good--my score is negative on this pick.

This ETF invests in a variety of high yielding assets, the vast majority of which are US stocks. The fund yields roughly 5% right now and actually trades at a small premium to its underlying NAV (roughly 1% premium). While the dividends may protect the downside in a market selloff, many of the individual names are not for the faint of heart, e.g. there are energy stocks (with exposure to commodity prices) and many companies that are fairly highly leveraged. That being said, my personal view is that I want to own many of the specific individual names here and prefer income stocks in general.

based on the recent strength of higher oil prices alone, this one will go as far as the market, whether bear rally or recovery...not for hi-yield so much as equity
