Bad Merger will only make things worse as they try to expand coverage in these times

This particular one is trading at 207% intrinsic value.

listen, the stock has been fashionable as of late. However i can see that it is not does not fit into any particular thesis of mine, except, wow, i have no exposure to transportation.

It looks like this was on a limit and i accepted the caps holding as a falling knife.

Oil is going down. Airlines are taking off!

who would have thought gas would drop so much and allow these airline stocks to move back up? gas will go back up and when it does these will move back down.........

Hedging and M&A mis-steps aside, this will be one airline that will survive.

Oil is dropping (though it may not drop much), Delta emerged from Bankruptcy fairly high and is now in an area to go up, should have picked it around $12 - $13, and interest in a merger.

Airtravel is down 25%. Earnings will miss and oil will recover before travel squeezing the airlines. Forward earnings estimates are way too high.

Have they ever made a profit? I mean figuring in all the money they lost, all the subsidies, etc. They have never made a penny!

The merger with Delta will prove out to be uneconomical with the different type of plans and will actually increase than decrease overhead. A huge loss will show before actual changes to remedy the situation is taken.

I think they are headed for a rough patch. Trying to make ends meet by pushing up customer baggage prices and ticket prices may be necessary, but its just one more reason peopl will look to other airlines like Southwest. As it is less people even have money to travel let alone to try and take on a higher price in air travel. Whether oil goes down or not, it's going to be a while before travellers start taking vacations in areas that make more sense to fly as a way of getting there. People are going to start going camping more and staying closer to home.
