greater product line and brand exclusivity, in the developing nations a merc is still a symbol of luxury whereas an audi is a 'transporter' car!

I think the Euro Crisis is winding down and Daimler will benefit like many other auto makers from the need of consumers to start replacing their aging vehicles.

Car sharing is the way to go. My daughter in Seattle is thinking of selling her beautiful car which she loves. Too many cheaper and less troublesome options!

Over the long term discretionary spending will rise. When it does, the Mercedes and Maybach brands will start selling again. If gas becomes too expensive then Daimler will probably also see a rise in Smart sales. Not to mention all of those Daimler trucks on the road in Europe.
The Chinese also have an appetite for luxury, Daimler can provide them with it.

Declining revenue, depressed industry, no profit to speak of now or for a while, pretty close to 52 week high.

Another bailout recipient which has sparked a renewed interest in the company. This is the best company of the three majors so they should do quite well with the assistance.

Car sales are down in general due to the uncertain economy and tight credit. I also doubt that people want to buy a new expensive car that runs on only gas. Its like buying an old computer at an inflated price. When the auto industry comes out with a good quality gas/electric car or minivan that is a good value, then buyers will return.

Now is the time to buy with all stocks having been dragged down, Daimler finally having gotten rid of Chrysler, and some key metrics (P/E, div yield, P/B,...) being ridiculously low.
