I like both DDD and SSYS in the 3D printing space. I liked DDD slightly better because I thought it offered a better price, relative to its valuation than SSYS. After a weak pre-earnings guidance, it offers an even better price. I still like DDD in the intermediate term.

Positives
1) One of the leaders in a rapidly expanding sector.
2) Great positioning in the manufacturing sub-sector.
3) Solid growth in revenue
3) Solid portfolio of products
4) Potential buy-out candidate

Negatives
1) Potentially over-extended after going on an acquisition spree
2) Organic growth has "only" been good in a rapidly expanding sector
3) Has had difficulty scaling up operations to the next level, failing to capitalize on demand.
4) Has had delays in releasing newest products.
5) Jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none could lead to continued execution difficulties.

Summary
This is a polarizing stock due to the massive acquisitions. Some are willing to give the company a pass while it operationalizes all of the disparate companies. Others think it will never happen.....that there isn't a clear executionable strategy. I lean toward the former. Target price 60.

Mr. Market punished this stock for not being able to meet increasing demand for its products quickly enough. Great problems to have!

3D printing is the future of manufactruing. DDD has been missing revenue estimates lately since its investing in its technology for the future. It hopes to be involved in all aspects of 3D printing. In this way, it's essentially the Amazon of the 3D space. Granted it's a 5-10 year play, maybe even longer, but it will outperform

With rapid prototyping and manufacturing in its infancy, 3D Systems seems like a logical play for the long term.

No great thesis here, any the whole 3D printer sector will do well and DDD is investing for the medium term.

If 3D printing can make it into mainstream consumer environments and people can realize practical, everyday applications for needing to build widgets, this company will help take us all there. It's fall back is that the small designer and DIY segments of the population might continue to grow so rapidly that the B to B aspect of what 3D systems already does can reach every corner of the little guy businesses, then it should be a run away winner even without mainstream consumer adoption.

Headed up - because one day you are going to print out your online-ordered merchandise at home. Everyone should think about that.

Broadest 3D printing company in the business. Provides 3D printing services in virtually every market and continues look for new markets through acquisition. As 3D printing is accepted by manufacturers, 3D Systems will grow significantly because of it's involvement in virtually every aspect of 3D priting

Great buy at the recent 11% dip. If you like philosophy of AMZN, you will appreciate DDD's too. Doing the right thing by planning for the long run. A good 3-5 yr term prospective.

I've been watching 3D systems Corp for a few years now. Getting early on new technology can be powerful, but one has to be careful that it's not a fade. Early producers can gain/hold market share for a time, but there is no real moat here and as the market grows, so will the competition.

I've seen a few 3D printers in action, and it was interesting to see them get some exposure on TV shows. 3D guns that fire once with no serial numbers and no barrel/bullet markings sounds pretty cool.

Overall, however, there is a difference between getting in on the ground floor and the over speculated floor. In at $10 was good move, in at $90 this past January, not so good. A $10B market cap was a bit too speculative. A 4X book and a 9 P/S is still rather high for the margins. The 50% YoY growth the last few years was impressive, but as the product starts to mature the growth has stemmed and the expectation are starting to realign. Debts down, but account receivables, inventory, and accounts payable are scaling up. Multiple down grades. May drop further, but investors at this level are likely to be loyal if the deceleration doesn't turn into a stall. Three quarters of declining revenue won't play well if the decline can't be spun as temporary, with new R&D and new products coming along. 3D is trying to grow also with acquistions, (Simbionix, a 3D virtual reality surgical simulation company)...and guided up.

If they can produce and regain momentum, this could be a good entry point. Needs close attention.
