PC's aren't dead. PC gaming isn't dead. Dell isn't dead. They have a better selection of systems not to mention they have great LCD's. Dell is coming up with some good styled products wich were showcased at this years CES. These new products will directly compete with Apple's laptop and ultraportable lines. Almost forgot to mention, the netbook market has room for alot of growth. It only needs a true leader to emerge.

the cash on its balance sheet, is what makes Dell's shares a great buy now. The company has nearly $7 billion in net cash, or about $3.60 a share. Exclude that from its recent share price of $10, and you get a price/earnings ratio of just under five, based on next year's earnings estimate of $1.31 a share. By that measure, Dell's shares are cheaper than 95% of all the companies in the S&P 500 and significantly less expensive than rivals HP and Apple, at eight and 12 on the same scale, respectively, according to Standard & Poor's. Once the quintessential growth stock, Dell has become a value play.

At these prices expecta rebound!
undervalued!

Global pullback in spending will hurt them for some time.

Computers are too cheap and have become a commodity. I don't believe in the "netbook" craze and until the next big thing comes out of this industry to make people spend money, I see nothing but declining margins. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that the economy is awful.

Dell is terminally ill. It was always a one pony show, and now it cannot compete at its own game.

Laptops are the future & Dell finally realizes this. Their made-to-order business model gives them much needed flexibility in times like these. And Dell's competitive laptop prices gives them an edge over HP and places them polar opposite of Apple's expensive MacBooks. Barring cultural difficulties in selling items over the phone/online, Dell is in a good position to expand international sales. It's not like new businesses in developing nations are going call Apple.

Intrinsic business value of $12.8
Recs
Dell just can't compete in this sector anymore. They lack the innovation of Apple and HP and have been too slow to adapt to consumer preferences. No one wants a relatively expensive PC with customer service still perceived to be from India. Couple this with lower disposable income, and Dell has plenty of room left on the downside.

TO GOOD OF A CP AND NO#1 IN IDEA
Recs
Dell will face shrinking margins and few opportunities for growth in selling servers, desktops, and notebooks. Successful competitors may eat at market share.

i feel the only thing missing with dell is there own transprotion hwy. they need to be able to cost out there shipping cost..... by buying a over the road trucking company..

other main retailers that sell their products are dropping like fly's. they don't have the educated sales reps on the floor pushing or helping customers decided which is best, why? cause the store closed shop.

Dell is going to get hit in the short term. They are missing estimates and will probably paint a pretty poor picture for future earnings. We are in a time of economic uncertainty and people are flocking to the discount sellers. Apple makes a a cool product, but sooner rather than later mommy and daddy will say we aren't spending 2 grand on that laptop from Apple, you are getting the $650 Dell that does the same thing for less than half the price. Dell also has a solid balance sheet and isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Pick up some shares, sell some puts (to get an even better deal on the already discounted price or make some cash if your position doesn't end up in the money) and be happy in a year or two when this stock has doubled in value.
Recs
They have lots of cash and will rebound better than most when they economy comes around. This company has lots of long term potential, even if it may fall in the short term it might still outperform the even faster falling S and P.

DELL is just a four letter word for DUMB. This company is still living in its past and believes that its direct to consumer distribution strategy sets it apart from its competitors. At one time it did, but no longer (it's been copied......even Wal-Mart does it now). Dell basically came into the industry, shook it up, flushed a lot of the excess profits of the industry down the drain with its lower pricing (due to its distribution strategy) and then they forgot to innovate after that. In the meantime, HP and Compaq get together and start kicking this Austin company's backside all over the place. DELL is a pretender and their best days will always be in their rear view mirrors.
