Stock has all of the fundamentals you are looking for and has already performed well (annualized ROI of about 100%). And coming soon: Oprah! Oprah! Oprah! Currently (Nov 21) taking a brief pause to catch up to itself -- pick your entry point and Discover this below-the-radar media investment. Basic thesis: segment the content to segment the ad customers.

An undervalued steady stock with great assets. Not as exposed to ad spend as people think.

Charts look great and Zacks says it's earnings will be going up next year. PE is reasonable, if a bit higher than I'm really comfortable with. Equity growth seems to be accellerating however, and that's something I always like to see.

I love Mythbusters and what other network would give a show to Billy Mays, except maybe NBC.

I tell you I'm Jinked! I live up to my Fool name. I just sold on Monday my shares and my kids shares of DISCA and now it's finally going back up. If it gets passed $16.50 so help me....

Technicals may be forming a bottom, but I don't like the cash position or the insider waffling. Macro concern: how much money will be spent on advertising next year?

This is a personal pick based on beliefs of the educational good derived from such entities as the Discovery Channel. I have always been an advocate for education and this stock presents a different twist in that it works with the media side of things. In the long term it should only gain strength. I like that it is global and despite this year's loss, its potential is still there to escalate. The fundamentals seem to to be solid and pointing in a forward direction for the future.

Great green channels.

Discovery is a step ahead of the Educational media. Going "Green" is an exciting new trend and they are in the lead.

New television series should bring great ratings..

Anyone who has a HD television set knows how much it kicks butt over analog (tube) tv's. However, there is also differences in the quality of HD broadcasts among stations. I have gathered a small consensus that agrees Discovery Network programming produces top of the line quality high definition. Those hooked on HD (and believe me that demographic is increasing rapidly) will gravitate to the awesome HD quality of Discovery. Seems to me to be a Rule Maker. I realize Discovery Networks is only a portion of Discovery Holdings, but both parts of the company seem to be managed well with solid and experienced leadership.

Discovery Holding is a good play with two catalysts: a potential stock buyback in the works and talks under way to obtain 100% control of Discovery Communications, Cramer said.

Giving this one a real hard look with the time-honored adage of "Invest in the products you use" firmly in mind.
I have been an avid fan and viewer of The Discovery Channel and non-fiction television for years. DISCA / DISCB nearly always produce niche quality products to slake the passions of those consumed with "a universal thirst for knowledge".
From a financial and investors view, I love the new CEO (a proven winner), and one of his biggest gutsy calls: Close Discovery Communications' brick and mortar mall stores and move to an e-business model. That lopped a whopping 25% from it's work force, along with significant savings in operating overhead.
That one fell swoop was a bold move to weather all market conditions, and is an excellent indicator of an impressive far-flung media giant focused more closely on profitability.
