Dendreon Corp (NASDAQ:DNDN)

While I would like to sound really smart and insightful about Dendreon, fact of the matter is... I really don't know them all that well. But that certainly hasn't hurt my caps score any! (ha ha ha)

My basic impression is that Provenge is a step in the right direction for the treatment of prostate cancer, but the drug itself is not all that helpful in treating the cancer based on the research results that I've heard about.

Brian Lawler, a very knowledgeable and insightful Biotech Fool wrote this article that gives some important details on Dendreon's wranglings with the FDA.

My prescription: If you've got an easily upset stomach... don't even get close to biotech stocks. But for those few brave/mad? Fools out there, the biotechs that I'm personally invested in are: Exelixis (EXEL), PDL Biopharma (PDLI), and Panacos (PANC). This last one, however, is particularly high-risk.

Serious problems here...there prostate cancer not going to get FDA approval and now the lawsuits alledging manipulation that allowed senior management to sell shares high. Tisk Tisk.

Provenge will eventually come to market. This is a waiting game.

I do own a sizable position in DNDN. Still look at the lottery card on this stock.

First: with almost 50% of the float on the short, the pps flashes up like a match taken to a can of hair spray. The Shorts freak at every hint of good news. Wait, at every hint of news period. Day traders love the action.

Second: With the understanding that technology advancing at 300% every 2 years, It was only a matter of time until a company unlocked The Immune response system through manipulating the Geneome.Dendreon has been cracking this egg since 1996.

Third: Risk to Reward, This company has one of the current shortest time spans regarding R2R.

With the current time to market being under 12 months.

Fourth, and best of all. This company has almost 12 months of capitol on the books. This makes it a 02/2008 buy out target just for their possible successful entrance into commercial production.

Watch for the Options action plus announcements soon, I believe a deal is in the works but the key is still on the fact that if they can profit from their oncology solution. DNDN can go back to $15-20 easily; obviously must have great news and fast-track FDA approval

Provenge efficacy will be reassessed in light of longer term followup studies. Investors will have growing confidence in its eventual approval even if that is delayed byond the short term.

Speculating about a possible takeover. The guys on Fast Money said that its either a bust of its going to 30.

This stock has a lot of upside potential once Provenge is approved. I'm long on this one.
