DRH has a relatively conservative balance sheet and premier locations which means that it will be able to weather the storm and emerge ready to take advantage of weak competitors when the market turns around. Baby boomers and most others love to travel and stay in nice places.

Hotel REITS will continue to be a solid investment. Out of all the real estate sectors, I think hotels are #1 right now. people are still traveling a lot and are staying in hotels. Occupancys overall are good and the average daily rate (ADR) keeps going up. There is also a lot of new development in the pipeline across the country. I think you can not go wrong with hotel REITS.

"luxury" hotels than aren't really that luxurious probably won't do well in the coming recession. It's a real estate play in disguise, too, since they farm out (and are charged handsomely for) the management of their properties. 17 employees, total, waiting for their "distressed price purchases" to go up in value. The next year or two should be grim.
