Doral Financial Corp. (DRL)
The Company manages its business through four operating segments - mortgage banking, banking, insurance agency and institutional securities.

looks like one of those financial overbloated, I'd love to watch it go down.

An upthumb on Doral Financial Corp is clearly speculative on my part. The mainstream market continues to seek direction with experts mixed on whether we are forming a temporary top. Providing financial services in Puerto Rico and New York has not shielded Doral from the issues of other financials. Book value of $6.34 is subjective, but appears to provide at least some margin as Doral continues to stabilize it's portfolio. Without the 1:20 stock split Doral did back in 2007 it would be a penny stock at this point. It stopped it's dividend even on preferred stock and has returned slightly cash flow positive. Overall a speculative stock, but I believe it has more upside than downside.

Financial stocks carry a P/E ratio of 22.4, and the so-called "recovery" has been especially strong in bank stocks. Therefore, I’m concentrating my shorting interest in the banking sector.
Recs
Nice percentage price rise on 7/30/09 with the rest of the market. Time to take some profits, since I suspect the next big price move is down. This company may even fail in 2010 if their costs continue to go up and their revenue shrinks too much.

Do I really need to provide a reason here?

This is about as bad as bad stocks go. It was bad even before the recession.

A slammed stock for some shifty accounting; but nothing fundementally wrong with the company.

Company should recover providing Puerto Rico's economy perks up a little.

Doral Financial has somehow staved off bankruptcy so far, but that inevitability doesnt seem that far off. Doral reported massive losses in 2007 and should continue to do so for 2 years to come. Business activity is still slowly and they have massive debentures maturing soon that they will have zero chance to pay off. They have nearly 6 billion in debt and with the way they are burning cash I'd predict less than 16 months of viability left. Bankruptcy seems like their only solution. I cant see them outperforming the S&P over the next 2-4 months. Also that reverse split was a recipe to take out new lows.
