Many years back I witnessed DRYS hit $116! Could it happen again?

Dry product shipping has no great fundamentals. I play the trading range and momentum. Low share value means great leverage. Read the chart.

I am definitely not a fan of the shipping industry. I've seen too many companies go bust there to consider it as an investment, unless...there's some sort of hidden value. DryShips owns a 59.4% stake in Ocean Rig (ORIG). That asset alone is worth $1.5 billion, DRYS' entire market cap. Very interesting. We're essentially getting the entire shipping business for free. For free I'll take a gamble that shipping rates improve :).

Kudos to Achilles Research for the interesting idea.

Short of nuclear holocaust, the world will need to keep transporting stuff. Investing in transportation is either a no-brainer or, should the hammer fall, an irrelevancy.

I believe that DRYS will perform better in the market over the coming year, because it is just now gaining traction from its descent over the past years.

DRYS inspires about as much confidence as a roll of the dice at a craps table. Still, the shipping opportunities seem to be improving, and with the stock mired in a multi-year slump, it seems an opportune moment to make a trade. Just don't bet more than you can afford to lose.

A couple of months ago you wrote an article about how bad the future looked for drys. How they are still in the black because of shipping contracts locked in at old "precrash" prices. But "soon" you said these contracts would expire and they will do very badly.
I was holding 4000 shares for several years waiting for it to go back up. After havong read your article, I sold all 4000 at 1.85 and now look at the price today, just 3 monthes later.
I really am disappointed when I read 2 conflicting stories from the fool in 1 weeks time. Making a good decision based on your articles is impossible. I will never again react to something I have read by Motley Fool. It might be entertaining but in less than a few days time other articles by the fool can say something very different. I just hung on to DRYS for several years to try to get some of my investment back and finished by losing over ten thousand dollars thanks to.............having read another foolish article. Shame on you. glenn bossert

It barely survived bankruptcy, but seems to have turned the corner. Besides its dry bulk shipping industry, it has investments in a oil company. Now tied to a rapidly rising shipping rate index BDIY as well as slowly rising oil prices it loos ready to keep on rolling. I bought in the summer of this year at 1.97. It closed today at 3.39

Most pessimistic moments are passing. Only Japan sees some weakness. Asian countries seem to be on solid expansion mode. The expected crash on China's real estate markets and stock markets never came. Just went people expect certain things, they never happen. Just when people don't expect it, it happens. People generally don't expect a surge on shipping needs, it will happen.

This ship is handling the rough seas just as good as the rest of them. DRYS has a plan to lower debt. The Baltic Dry Index is increasing. OceanRig will soon be a cash cow. If you can stomach the risk, it's a steal in comparison to peers.
