currently valued correctly compared to competitors by debt, margins & dividends, shipping expected to be growth sector as raw materials need to be sent to factories in emerging markets.

I invested in Diana in Nov. 2006. I have a 78.8% gain. I'm very happy. My son liked it and started to invest in May 2007 and has a 13.76% gain, he's happy too. Great dividends.

DIVIDEND AND EXCELLANT FINANCIALS
Recs
Great dividend and they have shipping contracts to keep their dry carriers out at sea.
Recs
I think the dry bulk shippers as a group should outperform as long as "globalization" and demand for commodities continues., but the better ones, like TBSI, DRYS, GNK and EGLE, especially so.
Recs
our modern world needs this service to servive ! these ships are in very short supply ! A strong mote.
Recs
EEM requiure certain base materials.
These materials come from all the continents.
Water separates the continents.

DSX operates primarily on long term charter contracts, and the vast majority of its fleet is contracted out for the next 2-5 years. So, the revenue forecast over this time period is pretty straight forward. However, traders value the stock based on the highly volatile Baltic Dry Index; this gives investors a great deal of attractive entry points.
PROS:
-fleet has a young average age
-company seems to do well at keeping ships under contract
-vast majority of profit is passed down to shareholders
-positive history of increasing dividends
-I am very high on shipping as an industry, as I believe there will always be a demand for this service and I don't see a feasible alternative to transport these goods
RISKS:
-fuel costs; this risk is amplified by the long term charters
-future competition, due to the large number of ships currently being built
Would love to get some input on any potential issues that I may not be accounting for (or on anything that I am accounting for incorrectly).

Diana Shipping is a Greek dry-bulk shipper with much of its business focused on transport of materials and agriculture products. The stock has been a bit of a rollercoaster over the last year, but revenues have been rising exponentially, the fleet operates at nearly 100% utilization, and gross margins are 30% higher than the industry average. The company is growing return on equity to near industry average levels, but is proving to be significantly more efficient than the industry in terms of return on assets, as the current ROA is nearly twice the industry average.

Price target $ 48
Recs
good dry shipping stock with great potentials for long hual
Recs
Great company with a great medium/long term expectation
my two biggest concern with this recommendation is their practice of buying out debt with new share issues and the stability of its dividend when shipping rates eventually fall.
as long as rates are rising, share issues are not dilutive, but once rates start to dip, new ships and the equity issued to buy them will be dilutive.
once rates dip they won't be able to support their high dividends.
but those concerns are still years away.

Somebodies got to move the goods.
