Devon is overextended compared to weakness I expect to continue in natural gas and their poor earnings performance the last two years. In addition they have liquidity issues. Compare their current ratio of .7 to CHK 1.0, XTO 1.0, COP 1.0, CVX 1.4, XEC 1.6 and APA 1.9. They may cut the dividend.

I own both DVN and CHK but I can't stand the gluttonous greedy pig at the top of CHK so I am out of that one. Natural gas is a sham business but it has bottomed. Lots of NG all over the world but transport is the problem. So I buy more DVN it will turn around soon. Of course obama is a problem but both moderate Rep and Dems have had about enough of him. Plus he has coal wrong and NG.

Probably not the best bet in the sector but it's been beaten up over the last year or two and should recover. Natural gas demand will increase as oil prices resume long-term trend upward, and the company is well-run. I can't say I'm overly enthusiastic about this pick, but it's more likely to beat the market than not.
