DVN has transformed itself into a liquids company and the price of its shares are repricing higher. They are repricing higher because its trading at very low forward PE's compared to its new peers. Liquids get much higher multiples than Gas. This is going straight to $80 before taking a breather, thanks to the sell of Devon Canada to CNQ and the buy of a Monster Stake of $6 Billion in Eagle Ford. If you want to know about Eagle Ford look no further than EOG which had 5 recent wells produce 13,000 barrels of oil per day which is equivelent to $1.3M per day.

Good valuation around the board (1.2 P/B, 2.4 P/S, 4.8 P/CF, 10.7 P/E, and about 30% lower than its Morningstar Fair Value). A little bit of concern with the 10.7 forward P/E since its current P/E is shakier, but overall a good valuation.

Highly recommended stock. CEO and management is decent but not fantastic. New focus on North America should reap dividends after its ten-billion dollar investments in N.A. Building up reliance on oil and natural gas of course means more of a reliance on their prices, this is generally a solid company.

Well-run oil company heavily invested in some of the large natural gas fields which should bode well for future profits.

Devon's management has proven its dedication on shareholder value. Though their change of emphasis on higher-margin liquids may seem late, I think Devon still has room to run.

The market is currently oblivious to the fact that Devon Energy is a special situation that possesses many catalysts for future higher profitability -- and subsequently also for significant upside stock price movement . Examples of these catalysts are the eventual rise in nat. gas and NGL prices, the board of director approved plan for an IPO of its midstream segment, exploration of asset sales, more extensive development of its oil producing properties, and the potential rise in Canadian oil prices.

Fairly cheap on a P/BV basis and a great balance sheet. Add in the potential for a continued rebound in Nat Gas prices, which would provide a decent catalyst, and this is good enough for a caps pick.
