Now that there has been a change in management, I feel a little more comfortable about this one. I don't expect it to survive on its own but it is a tasty takeover target.

Buy things hwne they are out of favor..i.e. offshore drilling and related service companies. The next time the Republicans own the Whtie House this is a 3x bagger.

most of the biggest oil plays lately are in deep water areas, like off Brazil. Worldwide, demand for oil will continue to rise, as will the price, so I like Oils, and particularly HAL and SLB.But then again I like Biofuels, wind energy and solar...they all will be necessary to keep up with worldwide population growth.ENERGY, more predicatable long term!!!!

May not be at the bottom yet, but count on new regulations mandating more regular repairs, inspections, and maintenance. On top of that, not a lot of debt, fair amount of cash, and a good rep in the industry.

Good hurricane play. With more offshore drilling, these guys should do well.

Solid company with impressive history of always being profitable. As the economy improves, energy will be hot again and DVR should benefit when this occurs.

Looks like a stock with potential growth, and it's moderately cheap now. At $7.64 today, doing a limit pick at $7.40.

Following Valuemoney. Despite a sound balance sheet, consistent historical profitability and reasonable profit expectations for 2010 and 2011, Cal Dive's stock is on sale for 50% off historical prices. Current P/BV 0.9 vs an average p/bv of 2.5 from 2006 thru 2008. Current P/Sales ratio is 0.67 vs an average p/sales ratio of 1.33 from 2006 thru 2008. This is a great company as shown by the fact that book value per share increasedfrom $1.50 at 12/31/04 to $7.43 as of 9/30/09. In 2010, earnings per share is expected to decline to $0.73 from $0.90 in 2009. This earnings dip is likely to be temporary. Regardless of economic conditions, offshore drilling is likely to continue at a strong pace and Cal Dive is likely to thrive.

Like it as a value pick for a few months, maybe a year. Financials look stable, but nothing to be overly optimistic about (though many Fools seem to be when it comes to this stock).
