What a perpetual disappointment of an investment. They make some decent stuff here and there, but not enough to move the needle in any meaningful way. The recent rising tide has lifted a lot of boats including this one but don't be fooled. Not enough hits to make it worth your while and they still haven't figured out how to reach the consumer post-movie. Better off investing in Disney, plus I gave it the thumb down on Investor Beat today.

Just a fan!

Their move into the TV space could be huge for them. Plus it trades at book value with very little debt and the stock has been beaten down. Undervalued play, I'm bullish.

Neither "dreamy" nor "working", Dreamworks just had its own "Mars Needs Moms" with the "Rise of the Guardians", a confusing and somewhat creepy animation that should not be crashing in a not-very-kid-friendly holiday season. I can't see anyone buying them; there's no"Lucasfilm" franchises here. What saves them? Lionsgate?

During a time when Disney has soared, DreamWorks has languished. It is now trading at less than half of it's March 2010 high while Disney has increased about 40%. I'm trying to figure out why I bought into a company that has gone down since the market bottomed in March 2009. I'm currently waiting for the breakeven and will find something more promising to invest in.

Never in the company’s history has the stock been so low. Trading at book value (what the company is worth if it was liquidated), these are Warren Buffet prices. Facebook just paid 1 billion for Instagram. Dreamworks Animation is only slightly more than INSTAGRAM? YES! My biggest concern is the home entertainment decline and the future of theaters in general. When people have wall-sized screens at home and quit going to the theaters, my bet is they will have a business model figured out. With a low valuation, no debt, and 116 million in cash I think it’s a good time to bet on the future of our families and their massive amount of children.
Can you imagine a world where our children don’t watch cartoons? I can’t. Playing with toys that aren’t based on movies with brain-washing amounts of commercials and product placements (a la McDonalds)? If this isn’t the future then I’ll be a lot more concerned about being a slave for our alien overlords than losing money in an investment.

Makes good movies

The price is on the low end of historical price/sales ratio and mid-range on price/earnings. They've weathered a prolonged drought of new releases and still have cash on the books with no debt. Television series through Nickelodeon and Netflix are adding to revenue and may have room for growth. The price should increase in the near future if they can get back on and maintain a more frequent feature film release schedule. In other words, the current problems are baked into the price and better times may be ahead.

They have signed an agreement with CHMDCZ and other chinese companies to build a studio and distribute films in the huge chinese marker. Katzenberg and Steven Spielberg are behind this company and this project. I may take a few years but this stock is a must buy.

There are other like businesses that keep this company from being the top in it's field.

People like to be entertained so even in a bad economy that industry does ok. If you add the fact that this company makes very good movies it is a know brainer.
Recs
They just keep making amazing things... (This is a sentimental pick, not an intellectual one.)

Highly undervalues. S&P 5 star
Recs
Sure wish I bought it here, instead of there ($28.75)!!! But c'mon now, can we all say undervalued? Great brand, great content and content deals, and the pipeline...we'll see!
Recs
The market underestimates the value of their upcoming franchises.
Recs
Securing good content deals, creators will be the ones to profit in the future
Recs
Low P/E ratio, oversold, should bounce back.

A steal at this price. Great valuation, no debt, just a matter of time before it produces a couple more hits and rebounds.
