Dawson is finally selling at a good price. Will go for it.

On 3-21-11, Dawson bought TGC Industries (TGE) for $157 million, TGC has $13 million in cash $77 million in recent equipment acquisitions, 14 operational crews. Revenues for TGC are just beginning to ramp up, $32 mil in 4q10. This is a steal. Only problem is Dawson, maintaining TGE exec and overhead. I expect Dawson to go to $70 by year's end as this acquisition will be immediately profitable.

We will need natural gas as part of our energy solution.

Solid business am buying Low hopefully.

I see a long term trend for more exhaustive exploration for oil on dry land. Dawson seems positioned to gain from that.

Natural gas prices cannot stay depressed forever and Dawson is in a good position to take advantage of a rise in prices.

If the best time to invest in commodity-based companies is when the commodity is down, then this should prove to be a well-managed play on natural gas.

I just like the idea of this stock. Have been following it for awhile and think they have what it takes to survive and eventually propser.

A proven company that always bounces back from its lows....high insider ownership, solid financial metrics, and future prospects that are relatively easy to understand.

Read conference call transcripts from two years ago to see how prescient management was in light of the current "troubles". They know this business, and manage for the long-haul.

3-d is popping up everywhere and now available at home. Avatar made 3-d acceptable and introduced it to a whole new generation. Remember when You saw your first 3-d movie back a few decades ago. I would never believe I could be backing anything 3-d. Technology is great and now is the time for this to get some traction.

Three dimensional geologic imaging is critical for horizontal drilling. The drill bit must accurately follow the center of a methane bearing shale strata that is only about 50 feet thick. Horizontal drilling is critical for exploitation of the Marcellus shale and all of the other shale gas deposits. Read some of the Chesapeake Energy reports on the economics and extent of shale gas, including the fact that it is worth drilling even if the price of gas is low. Then look at the number of leases that they have and realize that any which are not held by porduction expire in less than five years. To hold the best of them Chesapeake (and any other driller) will need to get a 3d survey; establish drilling units; and drill one well per unit. The initial 3d survey is needed as soon as possible to plan the drilling units. Additional more detailed surveys may be needed to plan exact well placement and/or to monitor the fracing process to ensure that the fluid (contaminated by the radioactive content of the shale) does not migrate to any acquifers.
