Natural gas is the cleanest burning of the fossil fuels. The demand for gas should increase 3% per year going forward. There is a finite amount of easy to find natural gas. If demand goes up and easy supply goes down smart geological engineering solutions become more valuable.
There is also a tight supply of technically savvy labor. DWSN has people that know the business and they are the largest player in lower 48 with respect to geological mapping for gas plays.

Capital One, an analyst with an excellent track record for oil-services firms, and several savvy Fools all like this stock, and it seems to be trading at impressively low multiples. Why not give it a shot?

6-FEB-08: DWSN reports record first quarter results. CEO says the outlook for 2008 is very good. (press release: http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=104&STORY=/www/story/02-06-2008/0004750491&EDATE=)
So, I have to ask: Why is DWSN down 13% for the day? If you ask me, it seems like a good buying opportunity. On Jan 14, the stock was over $77. Today, it is down below $52.
Unfortunately, I added my outperform pitch prior to today's action. Rat poop!

This stock is taking a breather after last years big run. Duke Energy has plans to convert coal burning power plants to NG from 2010 to 2015. Conversions like this will help keep natural gas in demand. Also those inquiries for oil exploration that Dawson mentioned in their November conference call will eventually become requests for services. When this happens they will start adding more crews again.

Time time jump aboard this one. Increased production capacity, loomin oil shortages, and high demand set the stage, and increse "safety margin".
Throw in a management team that has managed to increase just about everything good on the balance sheet, and I cant see this price going much lower.
The next 3 years are looking pretty shiney for these guys.

Although alternatives energy sources are needed, they won't supplant oil in the near term, and finding and extracting oil will continue to be important.

I work in the environmental field and have witnessed first hand how well these guys perform their work. They are worth every penny and more and can, as a result, chage whatever they ask and people continue to book up their time. Go long for the next 5 yrs on this play.
