See same comment regarding DSX, merely put EGLE where DSX is and voila

AS WE AND THE WORLD COME OUT OR THIS ECONOMIC SET BACK. WE WILL BEGIN TO GET DOWN TO BASICS AND START TO BUY THE THINGS THAT WILL FUEL OUR ECONOMY AND THE WORLDS ECONOMY. THAT IS PRODUCTS SUCH AS IRON, COAL GRAIN, AND FERTILIZER, ETC. THIS SHOULD IN TURN FUEL THIS COMPANIES ENGINES TO FULL STEAM AHEAD. AT LEAST THAT IS MY BELIEF.

Good prospects for competing with DSX

I had some powder dry for just such an occasion as Eagle suspending their dividend. As with Diana & Ocean Freight, those in it just for the dividend yield dropped it like it was hot, and I was able to get in within a dime of the day's low. As true to form with the afore mentioned, by day's end I was up 17% and - assuming it will follow suit with DSX & OCNF, unless the bottom falls out of the BDI it should be back to the $8.50 range by Tuesday afternoon for a tidy 32% return. If the BDI increases as it had the beginning of last week, could be pressing up towards the $10 mark sometime this week as there was strong upwards pressure before the press release... a 56% return in a week ? Yeah, I'll take it !
I don't buy stock for the div, if it pays out a pleasant surprise - but especially in the current economy it's odd that when a company does something responsible to strengthen their cash position people bail. It's just good fiscal sense on part of Eagle management.
As my nick name implies, I favor shippers. Linked to so many areas of commerce... food, energy, agri, infrastructure, crude. (though I don't own any tankers at the moment) Any of those turn to the upside, loosening of credit and availability of letters of credit to ship, and/or China increasing growth and the entire sector will be off to the races.
I don't think that the previous highs will be revisited any time soon and thought the highs were artificially inflated to begin with. I base my picks in large part on the moving averages from 2005. EGLE was trading at a strong $15/share back then, and yes I can see them revisiting THAT share price within a few quarters.

a few dips will be seen but overall will be a great stock to be in

They send us stuff to sell at walmart, we send them back things like timber, grain, coal and steel. Eagle makes it happen.

They are also at the all time low. So it will be a good short term rally buy

This company is gold right now, come summer we will undoubtedly see our money double. Strong financial situation along with growth shows great momentum building! I see this hitting the 8's within the next month

This stock is right on bottom..it shows the resistance level @ 4.50. The stock is selling under book value. Baltic exchange improving slowly. I will say this is very good buy. Once the economy improves it will go way up.

benefits from favorable economic climate

Shiping will become a more of a necesity than a service. Especially with goods needing to reach more consumers. it is a global competition, but, small companies can still outsmart the conglomerates in this industry. there is room.

DRY BULK SHIPPING
Recs
high dividend return, doubling the fleet size, bulk cargo is where its at for global expansion.
Recs
Dry Shipper that should rebound nicely after Chinese New Year and resumption of iron ore and coal shipments out of Brazil.
Recs
Supramax drybulker planning to double fleet. Long term charters lock in rates. Probably good thru mid 09.
Recs
EGLE is a fine stock but their move too long term charters makes income predictable. Their new charter rates as listed in the annual report are good but not great. Not a time to overweight.
Recs
that is the one to own!
Recs
This is great shipping stock that pays a good dividend

With many people being so worried about the rising costs of fuel, this is a transport business that has little to fear. Afterall, how do we get 90% of all internationally imported goods...you guessed it...ocean freight. These guys are a huge player in the ocean freight business, and will continue to be. Even if consumer spending dries up, stores pay to ship their goods back to where they came from...so they benefit even further if consumer spending drops. Financially, you have to love the fact that EGLE's long term investments have more than doubled over the last year. Pair that with 17% yearly profit growth, and you've got a winner. I'm bull on EGLE.
