Edison is better managed than most utilities and operates in a very profitable and growing market. It also is making a huge commitment to solar generation. I have a very large, long-term position in the common stock.
These guys don't have enough up to date infrastructure in old towns like Pasadena, CA to keep the juice flowing on super hot days. That could be a problem.
BATTERED EDISON SHARES READY TO REBOUND. FUNDAMENTALS ARE STRONG, THIS STOCK IS A WINNER.
Unfortunately America is never going to give up it's way of life and love affair with gas guzzling behemoths; add in the exploding Chinese driving population and you have a continuing increases in demand for oil for quite sometime, which can only help all of the oil comps.
safe utility to place some money in a down market.
New Chairman/CEO scheduled to take over in the next couple of months-- has to be an improvement. Current Chmn/CEO John Bryson is total buffoon, non-businessman, environmental lawyer, made nothing but bad calls for last 20 years. New CEO Ted Craver is seasoned professional, actually had significant financial and work experience before EIX. Nothing but upside from now on.
Sound basics. Updating infrastructure. Rebounded well from "deregulation" fiasco. Solid alternative energy sources (being) developed (wind, solar). Large market area for SCE. Good dividend.
