Rulebreaker pick of Jan. 2009. All debt is related to massive R&D expenses. Leading edge of RX for Crohn's, MS and Alzheimer's.

The reason I feel that Eln will outperform is due to the underlying strength of a number of product lines in it's poertfolio e.g. the negative publicity regarding PML and Tysabri is exagerated and ignores the positive impact of the treatment on many lives.

Elan was hit hard today with some foul news out of Europe, but this shall pass. Tysabri has proven to have a high level of efficacy in the treatment of MS. In fact, it is the MOST effective treatment on the market today. Combined with some exciting Alzheimer's treatments coming down the line (Bapineuzumab, et al) and ongoing research into Parkinson's, Elan will certainly return handsomely given a few years.

Elan has the right research, great partners and good management. All they need is a little cooperation from the FDA and a bit of luck.

This stock is extremely speculative, however, the pipeline for Alzimers and the very successful rollout of Tysbari will generate huge interest in the back end of 2009 and begining of 2010. Clearing its liquidity issue through this J&J deal will clear the way for news flow to bring this stock back to 2004 and 2008 levels, or at least fairly close to those peaks.

They have taken away a lot of the financial risk with the JNJ deal so now its all about Tysabri and Alzheimers. I think that the benefits of Ty outweigh the risks as they are learning how to manage the drug so this one should do very well.

Bapineuzumab is currently in Phase III and could be the next blockbuster to treat Alzheimer’s disease. I like the current price of Elan. Get in NOW.

Elan and it's drug Tysabri hav been unfairly bashed by your biased writer Feurstein (MHOP) and others. I suspect they may all have agendas and the real investors see through their forecasts and subjective reporting.

Historically poorly run company. One product which causes death all too often/terrible press. No products on horizon, including Bap, worth anything other than being money pits for underachievement. What R&D there was, has been all but killed off due to debt load, which is overwhelming and coming due in the near future. Convoluted ownership of company parts precludes any sale.
