Seth Klarman pick: Moving into profit? http://www.gurufocus.com/stock/ELN

Can a random number generator (www.random.org) produce the best 100 stock picks that will beat the market over the years? Let’s find out. :)
My process, for those interested:
I use www.random.org number generator to produce a number between 1 and 7,801. There are 7,801 stocks available to choose on the Motley Fool CAPS Game. Once I get a number, I go to the list, find that stock, and select that stock to outperform for the next five years.

Elan's development of ACC-001 has proven successful in Phase II trials. The company has an excellent ROE and strong ratings from analysts.

As I have said many times in the past, I am certainly no fan ofthe pharma sector. Having said that, I do play special situations there from time to time. That's what I am doing here with Elan. I believe that the company's core business will benefit through lower expenses and in turn increased profitability from the spin-off of its discovery science and neotope biosciences operations.

GUT PLAY

Company has excelled in the past with it's tenacious performance with most of its trials. This kind of tynasity canot go unrewarded for to long a period.

If not for poor management and many blunders by them, ELN would easily be well over $10 based on its science and pipeline, as well as Tysabri, which is well over $1 bil. and still has great growth potential.

Dr.Paolo Zamboni has made a huge breakthrough in Multiple Sclerosis research. Sales of Tysabri will go down slow at first, then gain speed.

Patients with Multiple Sclerosis and banding together to get tested and treated for Chronic Cerebral Spinal Insufficiency (CCSVI). Clinical trials already show a strong correlation between MS and CCSVI. A surgery (angioplasty or stents) on jugular veins are dramatically reducing symptoms of MS.

Elan -- will be a player in the biotech across the next 5 years.
Recs
Elan as a supply company is terrible!!! They are unable to manufacture and supply their own products. Take Azactam (aztreonam) an injectable antibiotic used in hospitals for example. They have a patent protection on the drug and yet have been unable to manufacture and supply it FOR OVER A YEAR!! If this is how the handle their research function then I want no part of it!

Rulebreaker pick of Jan. 2009. All debt is related to massive R&D expenses. Leading edge of RX for Crohn's, MS and Alzheimer's.
Recs
The reason I feel that Eln will outperform is due to the underlying strength of a number of product lines in it's poertfolio e.g. the negative publicity regarding PML and Tysabri is exagerated and ignores the positive impact of the treatment on many lives.
