Being new to the fool community...I'll share most recent news I heard regarding San Francisco having a hearing regarding the google/earthlink wi-fi project...debating on whether to go it w/o private partnership...feeling like it may give too much of a monoply regarding municipal wi-fi.
I Still like the municipal WiFi model and think it has a place in our future.

I think Earthlink is a winner witht the new mesh wireless network in Milpitas. I hope they expend their network to other places around the country. I think that if Earthlink continues on this path ELNK could become a dominant player in the WiFi citywide mesh network market.

Earthlink should get back to 10 next year if they can exceute there WI-FI plans which should generate some revenuve by summer hopefully. They are still sittin on halfmillion in cash and are thinkin beyond dialup.

1) Price to Sales and Price to Book are both ridiculously low
2) Hovering near 52 week low for support
3) Market cap is beginning to converge with enterprise value, which may prompt a takeover bid or even a LBO
4) Lots of cash on hand, no debt

Short-term favorite is ELNK. Why? Simple pitch -- you get this stock at a price where their Municipal Wifi and Helio (wireless) investments are valued at zero or possibly even negative value. I'll take that bet all day long as downside is very limited unless management just completely blows it or some scandal about the company comes to light (neither of which are high probability events given the quality of the CEO).
