Concentrated GaAs, although more efficient, is very far away from large-scale production. Even when all the quirks are worked out, i would think the technology will be licensed/adopted by a larger player in solar. I do not see an upstart like EMKR being the ONE to bring this to market. Concentrated photovoltaics leader plans to spin off the solar business in 2009. The EMKR conversion efficiency is greater than some rivals and oil will have to decline a long way from $100 per barrel to stop the alternative energy craze.

Relatively unknown solar play. Terrestrial based solar products not unlike silicon or CdTe technology but nearly twice as efficient. Cost and the need for concentration are the obstacles, but the market could be huge.
