Natualr gas prices are headed south and gas plays like EOG will suffer. Look to back up the truck on this stock in the Spring, but too much risk now.

Core position for me since 40. I see no reason to sell the core despite the current high PE and growing glut. Spring will bring trading opportunities as NG might get beat up a little. We will soon see more demand drivers assert themselves. NG for electrical generation to meet EPA requirements and HR1835 which will provide a catalyst for it to become a staple transportation fuel in Big Rig Shipping.

EOG, like APA, and PBR is also a stock for those concerned with the "Peak Oil" hype ... though there's probably a lot of crude yet to be found. EOG, as a North American nat-gas player, has been, seemingly off the radar, buying up leases in areas where it believes that its expertise in horizontal drilling and completion give it the ability to access major oil reserves. With a bit of luck, based on good prior planning, by the end of the decade, EOG, with approx 84% of its revenue from nat-gas, is projected to move to 50% oil and nat-gas liquids.

Moving toward balance is not a bad thing! Also, the down day, energy market correction ... is a good day to buy, at a discount, that which, soon or later, we'd have to buy any way

EOG is a quiet, consistent performer. The business strategy and model has not changed appreciably since the company was spun off by ENRON Corp in 1999. EOG's leadership continues to focus on cost control and opportunistic strategic and tactical goals that make it an industry leader. It's lack of seeking publicity and the spotlight is counter to its performance and peer group.
