Built wind farms for these folks and they don't throw money away on trivial BS like some, and with so many customers they supply power to, not going anywhere anytime some. Long haul investment.

Good div, well-covered, current>1

German utility paying a dividend of more than 7%. Stock has been driven to near 3 year lows due to uncertainty re the future of nuclear power in Germany and reliance on Russian gas, with an added dose of worry from the sovereign debt crisis. Risks are largely, if not entirely, priced in and the huge dividend provides some protection.

Cheap. Very cheap

Good on most stats, low P/B, strong cashflow. Too much political or monetary risk in todays pricing, strong (33%) according to investment analyst (GS).

Main power producer in Germany. Currently at P/E ~6, where historical P/E has been around 17. Also paying a 6% dividend, so either way theres likely considerable upside.
Biggest risk is probably the EUR currency, which is a bit uncertain, but there too theres limited downside - EUR has already bounced off the bottom it hit in June, and could give maybe an extra 10% upside if it returns to its average 12m level.

Stable, profitable giant of the utility business. Their M&A hunger should be low for some time leaving healthy cashflows to make all necessary infrastructure investments. A stable long term investment from my point of view.
Recs
Well run German utility.

This stock and rising cost and for the long hall I see them moving right along at a steady pace.

Nov 07: EON (and several other German energy companies) recently jacked up their prices rather sharply, which I don't like as a customer but have more than made up for as a shareholder. I was tempted to buy some more shares, but German cartel regulators are not amused and find the justification (higher production costs + investments in renewal energy) inadequate. Wait and see.
