Even after a huge writedown in the value of a couple of their portfolio companies, EQS is still trading at a P/B of less than 0.5, extremely rare for a closed end fund. The writedown coincided with the naming of a new chief investment officer, so it seems like they wanted to write down everything they could and start fresh and are thus unlikely to write down anything else. I would expect their P/B to tend back towards 1 as long as their new investment head does his job.

CEF trading at substantial discount to NAV.

closed end etf at large discount to NAV, though NAV is ill defined given thinly traded holdings

It's important to understand this is not just a basket of stocks selling way below value - this is a private equity fund invested largely in debt and preferred that takes 2-and-20 off the top. Moreover, all the information we have to value these securities is management's assessment of their fair value. A large discount to NAV is probably warranted, but probably not a 70% discount.

Their holdings are in companies that run cyclical and coutner-cyclical to the economy, so regardless of the current ecenomic situation the fund should perform.

Market cap of 62M vs net tangible assets of 104M.

Returns 10% annually in dividends. Has strong cash flows and non-traditional investments are a hedge in a turbulent market. At less than 60 cents to a dollar, it has a built in margin of error.

A Closed End Fund 5-Star rated by Morning Star is surprisingly traded at 40% discount to its Book Value. This fund invests in selected Private Companies that have great potential. Not only that, its last two quarters were terrific. Added to that, the dividend yield is about 10%. What else do you want?
The only problem is the trade volume is little less being a small cap. However, since the fund pays its dividend in the form of stock, this is going to be improved.
Current price is $7 and current book value is $12.07. That means I can buy $12 by paying just $7. That looks like steal for me.
