Purely a spec play at this point. Not recommended for general consumption.

Has not filed reports, in trouble with the SEC, (didn't preannounce the issue), in trouble with the government....plain trouble.

The plus, they run some schools that are necessary in this economy. IF they file paperwork, they could bounce from that, and if they get some relief any upside would cause short covering. Heavy institutional favorite, but that probably changed during the harsh selloff.

The use to be factor...use to be $100 per share so should be worth $50...$40...$20...$10...$5?? may prop this up, as will speculation of a big payday. Institutional dumping, however could cause more limits to trip and put this as a $2 stock in a short period of time.....

Gamble....

Magic formula pick, as others have commented. highly profitable. Also in an industry that will do well no matter what the rest of the economy does. Online degrees are hot.

Very undervalued in the longterm. 100 year old, extremely profitable company that buys back shares like a beast. High cash on hand, low debt. The industry is going through regulation changes, esi has already turned the corner with new enrollment now hitting positive once again.

Probably dumb....big time contrarian play.

About a buck away from trading at it's cash value.

Investors should consider selling puts. You can achieve some very high annualized returns at strikes significantly below the current price. e.g.

July 13 $15 strike at $1.85 has 21% discount and 26% annualized return.

Based upon historical earnings growth, I think this stock should be valued near $259.25 using discounted cash flows over the next 5 years. This produces a safety margin of 77%. The biggest downside that I see is that it is widely shorted, which may drive the price down in the near term.

ESI has the lowest PE in the sector, a strong management team and a lot of interest from the PE world.

I don't believe the govt will do too much to disrupt for-profit schools. There isn't enough non-profits for everyone that needs an education. There'll probably be increased accountability and regulation in the industry but hopefully it shouldn't be too bad.

Really Cheap valuation, solid company in a hated industry. Be greedy when others are fearful.
