They have loaded up their guns and all they need is one or two good hits to make a bigger splash.
Recs
Deep pipeline, improving balance sheet, likely to have a pre-ASCO bounce.
Recs
huge potential in the next year many drugs waiting for fda ok

Exelixis is excellent

This pick is definitely outside my comfort zone. I feel like I am betting on my golf game ( which is not that good) but I have bought a few mulligans to improve the odds. Thanks to the Fool for bringing it to my attention and explaiing the rationale for this potential racehorse.
I am on my way to the range to practice.

This sector is a scary one! Fear, though, is a fools game. I don't expect this stock to move upwards in the very near future. The cash burn is, well, similar to that Texas A&M bonfire tradition.
Recs
With so much in the pipeline, this price is impossible to pass up.
Recs
Down in the dumps and could stay there for a while, but looks like a good bet in the long (5+ years) range.

As of close of business on 2/20/08, this was a 5-star Morningstar stock trading at less than half of its Morningstar fair value.

6.25. This is too good a price in my book.

Has been pummeled recently for no particular reason. I've like this company, but really like it at this price. Pipeline is it's biggest asset.

Exelixis Inc. is probably the best place to be, when investing in biotechnology. I usually don't put my money in "hot" sectors, but this time I'm willing to make an exception because of the remarkable reputation this company enjoys. Recent price drop of approximately 40% is a good as any place to open a position. But let's not kid ourselves, this one is no sure thing (if there is such a thing).

Long play
Recs
good pipeline, low price, works with a lot of bigger partners and doesn't need a lot of success to break through.
Recs
has upcoming test that could be big but also has some risk, cheap to get in now.

R & D ing a lot of stuff. I like that theyre not banking on one or two drugs. Obviously, approval of one or two will skyrocket this company, but thats the rub. They have to GET there first. I still believe.
Recs
The research and allies this company has is perfect for future growth. At its current price, you will get a steal.

Wanted to have at least one speculative biotech pharma pick and this is it. MF rec, deep pipeline, blah, blah blah. Picking low-tide to put it in CAPS cuz I'm somewhat semi-mostly convinced they will strike gold. Just not anytime soon.
Disclosure: CAPS 4 me = RLP!

Still in a trading range that lasts for two years or so (before that it was in a slow uptrend) Nothing special except for the fact that the trading range goes from around 8$ to slightly over 12$, time and again, which is interesting if one has free cash to invest when it hits the 8$ bottom. It did again last week and now it's recovering again. Yes, the trading range could end pushing the stock down, but the news on Exelisis and their probable results with unless one of their drugs keeps being promising so not a bad decision to keep going with the crowd one more time. Anyway I waited a bit to see what happened after touching its bottom again, so I decided to enter at around 8.70 missing a previous 9% But a "rest" of 38% in the middle term is not a bad deal, is it?
