I don't like the fee on this, but low p/e should outperform the S&P

This is a good long-term play. It avoids buying stocks at the top and ends up with businesses that generate consistent cash flow. Unfortunately, it held about 30% in bank stocks just before the credit crisis, and has lost ground. It also has about 24% in energy stocks, though, which have propped up performance. The low prices of bank stocks and the long-term prospects for energy stocks make this a good buy now. Expenses and turnover are low, and the portfolio doesn't get turned over for emotional reasons or for window-dressing. It now appears to have about 40% banks after their annual rebalancing, and will reap the benefit when the banks recover.

This fund will never shoot the lights out. You miss Apple and Google, both on the way up and on the way down. It does well in bad markets. As Warren says, one of the most important factors in sound investing is merely avoiding losers. This fund, by definition, buys low and sells high. Jeremy Siegel is right.

What is this ? Do you know Jeremy Siegel ?

This is a form of indexing that has beaten the market in the last 100 years. Stocks with low P/Es and high dividends that are reinvested. Growth stocks with high PE's are out. In the long run this will always beat the market by a couple points per year.
