Copper and Gold and FCX has plenty of each, China the catalyst

Need for electric cars and power plant, wind farms, and other power distribution infrastructures will require a lot of copper (green era?).

A wonderful mining company that I just discovered. Hmm ... where was I?

Inflation play

Although the stock has rallied substantially off it's low, there is still room to go. I expect China will continue to lead the way out of the current worldwide slowdown and this should be good for copper prices. In addition, you get the gold kicker with FCX if inflation starts to become a problem down the road (which I think is likely).

I bought this at $33.17, and all it has done is move up. It's a copper play. Think china on this one!

This is a long term play for me. Banking on the rebound in the global economy to push commodities higher, and this stock along with it. I also expect to see the dividend brought back to a higher level as the recovery is established.

Copper spot prices are rocketing...currently at $1.96/lb and rising. This is also a great play on housing as all wires in most homes are insulated copper.

Great buy...even after this recent run-up.

The run up of 170% from the low is a bit much. Freeport needs a few weeks to breathe before heading higher.

World wide pick up in economic activity, especially in USA and China

This is a real money play for me. This is a departure for my usual long term hold strategy. I'm watching the 20,50 and 200 day EMA and just trying to time the rides on this one. A good silver pick with a touch of gold.

Believe this stock has bottomed. It's a great company, well run, has money in the bank, and is in several fields including holdings in infrastructure as well as copper, gold and other metals. Gold is in for a mojor upward trend, as asian markets recover the metals, especially copper, will rebound in price and make this stock at this price a real value!

When the world economy rebounds, and it will, FCX is well positioned to provide copper and other essential metals. Although not as cash rich as it once was, it could cherry pick distressed properties if it so desires.

Having removed their dividend, I do hope it returns, I see FCX as a good growth type stock over the next several years. Perhaps the dividend will return, if not I do see the value of this stock rising steadily over the next 12 months.

Quick question. Didn't FCX eliminate its dividend? Why does CAPS still show it at 9.2%?
